The Irish Pub

Dir: Alex Fegan

Producer: Aileen O’Carroll

Composer: Denis Clohessy

Dur: 80 Mins

THE IRISH PUB is a celebration of the greatest institution in Irish society, the pub or more specifically the Irish traditional publican. These characters come from a long line of family generations to run and own their family pub. It is interwoven into Irish society. The famine, religious persecution and cultural enrichment all started and ended in the pub. The stories these men and women tell capture days gone by and it is feared these will be the last in a long line of family publicans who lived and died in their pubs with little interaction beyond that point.

The Irish Pub film received completion funding from The Irish Film Board and has been picked up by Element Pictures Distribution for a general release in selected Irish cinemas in October 2013. It also received a general release in selected cinemas in the USA and Canada through Atom Films sister company, Snackbox Films. In Australia and New Zealand, it was distributed through Antidote Films (Australia) where it played in Melbourne, Sydney, Pearth, Brisbane, Aukland and various other cities.

The Irish Pub has also played on PBS, the History Channel and RTE, where it remarkably played to up to 422,000 people at peak.
